The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a powerful and simple method of energetic healing. What enables this EFT or ‘Tapping’ to work, at a deep level, is the combination of a gentle touch together with mindful and vocal attention to thoughts and feelings. EFT works with the body’s subtle energy system – a network of energy pathways, called meridians in Traditional Chinese Medicine. These pathways are accessible via specific locations on the body called acupoints.
It involves tapping with our fingertips on acupuncture points on the hands, face and body while focusing (temporarily) upon an issue we wish to resolve. The simple process of tapping certain acupoints while focusing on an emotional upset has the effect of releasing the intense charge of troubling emotions.
EFT allows us to release and transform the way uncomfortable feelings like hurt, guilt, fear, or anger may be affecting our experience. It can also be used to help transform the thoughts and beliefs behind our emotional experiences. After just a few rounds of tapping, people often report feeling lighter and calmer and able to breathe more easily – almost as if they now have more space inside. They may report that their thinking has changed, they have gained new insights or that they are feeling better, overall.

In our one-to-one session we will first identify the themes you would like to work on and/or the memories and emotions you would like to release. We will then measure the intensity of your emotion associated with that theme, followed by pairing your memory with a statement of self-acceptance. This pairing utilizes two well-researched psychological techniques called exposure (remembering the trauma) and cognitive restructuring (self-acceptance). I will then guide you to tap with your fingertips on a series of acupressure points on your face and body.
The tapping sends a calming signal to your brain, telling it that you’re safe. So, while before, the memory might send your body into a conditioned stress response, you’re now re-conditioning your brain with a positive association. The signal of safety sent by your fingertips tells your brain’s stress system to disengage. The conditioned association of the memory with the stress response is the broken. Once that loop is broken, it usually stays broken.
Once your system begins “rebalancing” as we tap, you will start feeling better – more relaxed, peaceful, and serene – in relation to your specific emotions.
As for Chakra healing, EFT is used in a new and dynamic way by addressing all three layers of the human being. The physical body (muscles), the mental/emotional body (emotions) and the spiritual body (chakras) are engaged, and therefore, the potential for deep and sustainable healing is dramatically increased.
