"Sacred Cacao opens the door. It's up to you to walk through it."

Sacred Cacao

The cultivation and spiritual use of Cacao can be traced back to more than 4000 years in the ancient Mesoamerican cultures comprising the Olmec, Mayan, and Aztec civilizations. The Mayans and Aztecs, for example, believed that cacao was a gift from the gods and used it in religious ceremonies. The beans were also used as currency.Cacao was an essential part of all ceremonies, be it birth, funerals, weddings, festivals etc. It was offered to the Gods and consumed by the elite for its nutritional and medicinal benefits. But it was not just an ancient version of a superfood. Cacao was sacred, holy, magical and was believed to lift spirits.

These ancient civilizations learned about all the qualities of cacao from experience and wisdom. It was used as an essential part of various important ceremonies and considered to be sacred, holy, magical and was believed to lift spirits.

A Mayan legend tells us that whenever there is an imbalance between humans and nature, cacao comes from the rainforest to open people’s hearts and return the planet to a state of harmony. In shamanic practice, therefore, cacao if considered the 'food for the shift.' It represents the new order of love and peace, which is being cultivated right now by all of us.

Consuming cacao in a ceremonial context opens the heart and helps to release blockages, allowing for a deeper connection to the divine and a more profound spiritual experience.

Healing benefits of Sacred Cacao

The consumption of sacred cacao in rituals or ceremonies is a way to connect with your intuition, emotions, and inner self through divine communication and heightened consciousness. It allows you to gain guidance and insight. It creates a state of mindfulness and emotional balance which enables you to connect with a higher power or reality.

Sacred cacao differs from the traditional cacao sold in the grocery store in that it has a higher quantity of the beneficial health restoring and consciousness altering psychoactive compounds. It is prepared very carefully to maintain its full range of nutrients. It is a special ceremonial grade cacao. It is the pure, 100% organic, natural, and minimally processed.

The beans are high in magnesium, calcium, iron, and B-complex vitamins. Their special component is theobromine, a natural stimulant that’s longer-lasting, milder, and is more pleasant than caffeine. Cacao helps to improve cardiovascular health by decreasing inflammation, relaxing blood vessels, and increasing blood flow. It contains a compound called phenylethylamine (PEA), which stimulates the release of endorphins, leading to feelings of euphoria.

Ceremonial grade generally has no added sweetener in order to retain the natural flavours and over all the nutritive benefits of the cacao. Since ceremonial cacao is used in a spiritual practice, importance is also given to the origin of the cacao, i.e. the farm on which the cacao is grown, the intention and care given to the trees and spirit.
